Tablet: Yellowish, round, convex tablet with a cross-shaped score line on one side. The tablets can be divided into 2 or 4 equal parts.

ATCvet code: QJ01AA02

Active substances: Doxycycline

1 tablet contains:

Doxycare® vet. 40 mg
Doxycycline 40 mg
(equivalent to 47.88 mg doxycycline hyclate)

Doxycare® vet. 200 mg
Doxycycline 200 mg
(equivalent to 239.40 mg doxycycline hyclate)

Dosage, method of administration, route of administration
Oral use:
The dose is 10 mg doxycycline per kg body weight per day.
In most routine cases, a response is expected after 5 to 7 days of treatment. For acute infections, treatment should continue for 2–3 days after clinical recovery. In chronic cases and in the event of relapse, a longer treatment period of up to 14 days may be justified.
For the treatment of infections caused by Ehrlichia canis:

The dose is 10 mg doxycycline per kg body weight per day for 28 days.

It is not always possible to completely eliminate the infection, but extended treatment for 28 days reduces clinical signs and bacterial load. Following a risk/benefit assessment by the responsible veterinarian, a longer treatment period may be required in severe and chronic ehrlichiosis. All treated patients should be monitored regularly, even after clinical recovery.

The tablets should be administered with food (see section 4.5). To ensure the correct dose is administered, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible to avoid underdosing.

The tablets can be divided into two or four equal parts to ensure correct dosing. Place the tablet on a flat surface with the score line facing upwards and the convex (rounded) side facing down towards the surface.

Halves: press with the thumbs on both sides of the tablet.

Quarters: press down with the thumb or another finger in the middle of the tablet.

HYDROCORTISONE
ACEPONATE
ECUPHAR

Hydrocortisone

Dog icon

Hydrocortisone cutaneous spray for the treatment of inflammatory and pruritic dermatoses in dogs and for the relief of clinical signs associated with atopic dermatitis in dogs.

Diesters are lipophilic components, ensuring increased penetration into the skin together with low plasma availability. Hydrocortisone aceponate therefore accumulates in the dog’s skin, resulting in a local effect at low doses. The diesters are converted within the skin. This conversion makes this class of medicinal products effective.

Antibacterials for systemic use – tetracyclines

ATCvet code: QJ01AA02

Active substances
1 ml solution:
Doxycycline hyclate 230 mg equivalent to 200 mg doxycycline

Indications

Pigs: For the treatment of clinical signs associated with respiratory disease in pigs caused by Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae susceptible to doxycycline.

Chickens: Where clinical disease is present in the flock, to reduce mortality, morbidity and clinical signs, and to reduce lesions due to pasteurellosis caused by Pasteurella multocida, or to reduce mortality and lesions in respiratory infections caused by Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale (ORT).

Dosage, method of administration, route of administration

Administered orally via the drinking water.

The recommended dose for pigs is: 12.5 mg doxycycline hyclate (0.054 ml medicinal product) per kg body weight per day for 4 consecutive days. If no improvement in clinical signs is observed within this time, the diagnosis should be reviewed and the treatment changed. In severe infections, the treatment period may be extended to a maximum of 8 consecutive days, as assessed by the treating veterinarian.

The recommended dose for chickens is: 10 mg doxycycline hyclate (0.043 ml medicinal product) per kg body weight per day for 3–4 consecutive days for infections caused by P. multocida, and 20 mg doxycycline hyclate (0.087 ml medicinal product) per kg body weight per day for 3–4 consecutive days for infections caused by O. rhinotracheale. Based on the dose to be used, and the number and weight of the animals to be treated, the exact daily amount of medicinal product can be calculated. The following formula can be used to calculate the medicinal product concentration in drinking water:

………….. ml
medicinal product/kg
body weight/day
× Average body weight (kg) of the animals to
be treated
= ………… mg medicinal product
per litre of drinking water
Average daily water consumption (litres)
per animal during the previous day
………….. ml medicinal product/kg body weight/day
×
Average body weight (kg) of the animals to be treated
Average daily water consumption (litres) per animal during the previous day
=
………… mg medicinal product per litre of drinking water

To ensure correct dosing, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible. Uptake of medicated drinking water depends on the pigs’/chickens’ clinical condition. To obtain the correct dose, the doxycycline concentration must be adjusted accordingly. The use of suitably calibrated measuring equipment is recommended if part of the medicinal product package is used. The daily amount is added to the drinking water so that all medicinal product is consumed within 24 hours. Medicated drinking water should be replenished or replaced every 24 hours. The solubility of the medicinal product is pH-dependent and it may precipitate if mixed in hard alkaline drinking water. During treatment periods, the animals should not have access to any other water sources than the medicated water.

Weight can also be used to measure the quantity of medicinal product to be added to the drinking water. In this case, a density correction should be applied in accordance with the following formula:
Amount to be added to drinking water (g/l) = amount to be added to drinking water (ml/l) × 1.075 (g/ml)
